WeWork Creator Awards

Project lead for planning, development and live implementation of four large-scale European award ceremonies.

In 2017, WeWork launched the Creator Awards, committing more than 20 million US dollars in grants to the most innovative projects and those who exemplify what it means to be a creator - those truly pursuing their passion and bringing a new idea into the world that makes it a better place. An international initiative open to entrepreneurs, artists, start-ups and non-profit organisations with 10 global activations.

The brief was to activate the events in London and Berlin in 2017 and 2018, ensuring that the experiences were about supporting, celebrating and connecting the creator communities in each market.

In London, 2,750 guests attended the event held at Battersea Evolution.

Before the ceremony, guests visited workshops, a job fair, a Creator market plus masterclasses hosted by industry leaders Grace Dent, Simon Hulstone, Dumi Oburota and Estelle who discussed mentorship and creativity.

WeWork founder Adam Neumann kicked off the ceremony with a keynote address before hosts Reggie Yates and Carly Wilford announced the awards. The ceremony included live music and dance acts, live pitches and award presentations across three categories. UK creators walked away with more than one million US dollars in grants.

The ceremony closed with two light tunnels revealed either side of the awards stage that took the guests to the after-party space with DJ Annie Mac.

In Berlin over 800 guests attended the event at Motorwerk, a beautifully preserved automobile factory from the 1920’s with a unique grand hall. The format echoed the UK event with another one million US dollars plus awarded in grants. Both ceremonies were streamed via Facebook Live to the other global markets.

For the Berlin after-party, the legendary Georgio Moroder closed the evening with an amazing DJ set.

In London 2018, over 3,000 guests attended the event at Printworks presented by Ashley Kutcher, with the after-show performance by Diplo.

In Berlin 2018, over 1,000 guests attended the event at The Arena, with the after-show performance by Mark Ronson.
